Time is running out!

Only seven weeks left until I go to St. Louis for the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) Conference!

Seven weeks to finish the revising, rewriting, and perfecting of this manuscript that finaled in the Historical category of the Genesis Contest for unpublished writers.

My crit partner Melissa and I have been feverishly trying to get through the remaining chapters of our manuscripts. There will be literary agents, editors, and publishing houses at the conference and we want to be ready! Just in case we get the coveted request for the "completed manuscript".

I am one of three finalists in my category. I haven't quite allowed myself to dream that I could actually win. I feel as if I've already won because the agents and publishers will have all the finalist's names. It's my chance to stand out from the crowd.

So housework has gone to the dogs. Forget about my favorite TV programs. Sleep? Who needs it? I'm eating, drinking, and breathing the 5th Century. All my brain synapses are alert. The neurons are firing. All systems go!

  1. Ugh, don't remind me of the countdown. I've been up way past 2 everyday lately. Good thing for napping with baby and a movie to entertain the my new 5 year old (it's her bday! which also means lots of out of town guests.) And a suddenly very clingy baby--the only time he's not attached to me is when he's sleeping. So the schedule around here is kids go to bed with hubby around 9 and he gets up at 3 am now to go to work--I try to race into bed before 3 to "pretend" that I'm not acting insane at the moment. Watch--Last year I got 3 requests, and all this work and I'll get nothing this year.

  2. Melissa, try not to worry about it. Everything in His time, right?

  3. Not too worried, but not worried doesn't mean not working for it! :)

  4. The last paragraph in your post made me chuckle. A good sense of humor will go a long way toward maintaining your sanity. And a clean house is highly overrated.

I am so excited for you and can hardly wait to hear every detail of your time in St. Louis. You should have lots of material for your blog and hopefully a few pictures. Congratulations on this awesome achievement.

  5. Renee--I am so excited for you and like,Kim, I want to see blogs with info and updates! Keep us posted. PS sanity and a clean house are both over rated in the big scheme of things! Lots of very creative people in history were considered mentally ill. I guess it depends on your definition! ;-D

  6. Congratulations and good luck! I hope you have an amazing time at the conference!

And BTW--if you ever find some spare time in the near future and would like to swap critiques, let me know. My WIP on Theodora is set in roughly the same time period and I'm looking for a critiquer who writer historical fiction.
